Who Is Not Here

by

in

They Are Here In My Heart

there is white lace and fine wine

chatter and laughter and banter

a shiny happy couple holding hands

and there are ghosts everywhere

the sun is making rainbows

when it isn’t raining light

the house is a moving picture, still

and the spirits walk amongst us

the drunken uncles stumble and gurn

in turn the girls giggle and wiggle

on the unsteady dance floor

and walk with phantoms

the wedding feast is over-eaten

old memories revisited and new made

absentees are everywhere present

and the departed are still amongst us

here in my heart

filled with love
