Taking Leave

That will be my last memory

After the faces of everyone

I ever knew

Those few I have loved

And the many I have not

After all the places I have been

All the lands and seas

All the wonders of this world

I have seen

Skipping over all regrets

All sorrows, the things not done

Thinking only good thoughts

After all that

There will be one last thing

One last image in my mind

A tall tree in the spring

It’s bright green leaves

Blowing in a gentle breeze

One branch outstretched

A last leaf waving
